The first two weeks after going to the salon or dyeing your hair at home are the best, but after that, all hair dyes seem to start fading. Why is that? Can we do anything about it? Is there a product that lasts longer than another?
We answer the most frequent questions on the subject so you can keep your hair color beautiful and shiny for much longer.

Why does hair dye fade?
Dyes penetrate the hair cuticle, and even if they are as good as Schwarzkopf's, which have a technology to seal it and retain color for longer, the truth is that external elements (water, sun, shampoo...) make hair porous, causing pigments to disappear.
Is there a dye that lasts longer?
The more cared for and hydrated your hair is, the longer your dyes will last because your hair will be less porous, and consequently, it will lose less color. That said, the better the dye, the more it will care for your hair and the longer it will last.
What types of dyes are there?
If we classify dyes by their duration, we find permanent, semi-permanent, and temporary dyes. Years ago, the former usually contained ammonia, while the latter did not. Today, there are products like Igora Zero Amm, which guarantee up to 100% coverage without ammonia. If we categorize them by type of ingredients, we find synthetic vs. natural dyes like henna, which disguise gray hairs but do not hide them.

What to do to maintain hair dye color?
1. Less is more. Space out washes.
Washing your hair every day is like inviting the color to go on vacation... and it probably won't come back. It might be a bit difficult at first, but your hair will get used to it, and after a few weeks, you'll see that you no longer need to wash it as often. Low buns are in fashion and hold better with slightly dirty hair.
2. The right shampoo and conditioner.
Your favorite supermarket shampoo might smell amazing, but if it's full of sulfates and parabens, it's not doing you much good. These are two very powerful detergents that clean very well, yes, but too much, as they also strip the hair's natural oils and, of course, the color from dyes.

Its unique action fills gaps on the hair surface.
The result is regenerated hair, with renewed strength, superior elasticity, and healthy shine. Vegan and cruelty-free formulas, reusable packaging.
Many models already say that their best beauty trick is to apply sunscreen every day, and we should start doing the same with our hair. Bonacure Sun products are specially designed for this.

4. Avoid excessive heat.
Use special products before blow-drying your hair and avoid doing so at very high temperatures. If you have to flat iron it, do it at the lowest possible temperature and make sure you have used a good protector and that your hair is completely dry. Flat irons and curling irons can be your best friends when you need a ready-to-go hairstyle, but their relationship with your color is more toxic than a dramatic telenovela.
5. Use specific products
CHROMA ID – Semi-permanent coloring system (washes out over time) and 100% customizable toning.
Thanks to Chroma ID products, you can extend your salon results while taking care of your hair's health.
This means that when, after about 2 weeks of going to the salon, you feel the color is fading, you give your hair a boost, get color and shine, and also strengthen the hair's structural bonds thanks to Bonding technology.
How to make hair dye last longer on gray hair?
Besides all the tips described above (mainly: keeping hair hydrated, washing hair less, doing so with a special shampoo, sulfate and paraben-free, and protecting it from sun and heat), there's little you can do to make dye last longer on your gray hair. Make sure you use a good dye with guaranteed full coverage and try some highlights to disguise the growth of new gray hairs.
